Founder
Jacques Steyn Jacques Steyn is the founder of the Care for Tulbagh Association.

Among other things, he was an Associate Professor at the University of Pretoria, responsible for the first Multimedia degree offered in South Africa.

When the Web became public, he consulted to corporations such as Standard Bank, MTN, FNB and others on the new media technologies, particularly the Web.

He later joined the South African campus of Monash University (Melbourne, Australia) and was academic and operational Head of the School of IT until his retirement.

He was founding director of an international association (IDIA) with participants from about 40 different countries. He served as its Director for about 10 years. The focus of IDIA was researching how technologies could empower struggling communities of the Global South.

He holds a Masters degree from the University of Pretoria, for which he was the recipient of an award from the S2A3 (Southern Africa Association for the Advancement of Science) for excellent contribution to Science. He holds a PhD degree from the University of Cape Town.

He is an Honorary Associate Professor in the Department of Information Systems, Faculty of Commerce, at the University of Cape Town.

Jacques is Executive Director of Care4Tulbagh.

Gail Schulschenk Gail Schulschenk moved to Tulbagh in 2017 as she wanted to get away from the city hustle and bustle.

Her education and career background is in law and finance.

She currently runs a consultancy in governance, contract, policy and business development.

She feels very strongly about community sustainability and development. Gail also started and owns a business in Tulbagh which concentrates on developing and promoting local craft and art.

Gail is Associate Director of Care4Tulbagh.

Naudine Verryne Naudine Verryne holds the degrees B.Proc and LLB obtained from the University of Pretoria (1998).

She grew up in Brits (North-West Province) and opened her private practice in that town as Verryne Attorneys, specializing in Third Party and Medical negligence claims. She closed her practice in 2019, when the family relocated to George in the Western Cape. They have recently moved to Tulbagh.

Naudine is also a qualified mediator with a formal qualification in Family Mediation.

Naudine is Associate Director of Care4Tulbagh.
